AI transparency

1. What AI does for you

AI is involved in the following surfaces. Each output is reviewed and editable by you before it leaves your account:

• CV generation — drafts a tailored CV from your profile and a job description (Google Gemini).
• Cover letter generation — drafts a cover letter matched to a job description (Google Gemini).
• Interview question generation — produces practice questions tailored to a job and your profile (Google Gemini).
• Interview scoring — assigns coaching scores to your practice answers across content, structure, and presence (Google Gemini).
• Voice and facial analysis — during interview practice, analyses your speech (pace, filler words, emotion) and your face (posture, eye contact, emotion) with Google Gemini and Deepgram. This is special-category biometric data, so we ask for your explicit consent first (see Privacy Policy section 7).
• OCEAN personality profile — works out a five-trait psychometric profile from your Career DNA answers.
• Strategic persona — generates a short narrative summary of your career stage used as context by other AI features (Google Gemini).
• Career coach — produces skill-gap and success-probability feedback as coaching, not as a decision (Google Gemini).
• Reach outreach drafting — drafts personalised outreach emails for you to edit and send (Google Gemini).
• Deep research — assembles publicly available company and role information (Google Gemini).
• CV parser — extracts structured fields from an uploaded CV file so you can review and confirm (Google Gemini).
• Search — reads the words you type so it can find your own jobs, documents, skills and companies. Simple queries are handled by pattern rules with no AI at all; anything they cannot read is sent to Google Gemini. Only your query text is sent, never your profile.

2. What AI does not do

These are commitments that hold for every AI surface in arapia:

• Does NOT screen applicants for employers.
• Does NOT gate your access to any job, feature, or opportunity. Every score is coaching feedback you review and can override.
• Does NOT share your data, scores, or AI outputs with HR systems, recruiters, employers, or ATS platforms. (If you opt in to AI Indexing for your public portfolio, you publish it yourself to the open web — that is your choice, not us sharing your data. See the AI Indexing sections of the Terms and Privacy Policy.)
• Does NOT make hiring decisions or recommendations to any third party.
• Does NOT rank you against other arapia users for any external party.
• Does NOT make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effect under GDPR Article 22.

3. Models we use

arapia is built on top of large language models from external providers. We do not train foundation models in-house. The current providers are:

• Google Gemini (Pro and Flash models) — the primary models for CVs, cover letters, interviews, persona, scoring, research and CV parsing.
• Deepgram — speech-to-text for interview practice audio.

4. Your rights

You can see your OCEAN profile and strategic persona on the Portrait page in Persona, and reset the persona at any time. You can withdraw consent for voice and facial analysis at any time in Settings without losing the rest of your account. You can export your data at any time in Settings. You can contact us with any question about AI.
